How to become a renewable energy analyst

There are several routes to becoming a renewable energy analyst. You could complete a university course or an apprenticeship, or apply to an employer directly. 

You should explore these routes to becoming a renewable energy analyst to find out which is the right one for you. Although some of these options have certain qualification requirements, many employers are more interested in people who are enthusiastic, willing to learn and can follow instructions.  

You may need a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card to work on a construction site.

As a renewable energy analyst, you will develop sustainable energy solutions to make buildings more energy-efficient. 

The job role of a renewable energy analyst involves the following duties:  

  • Inspecting the efficiency of renewable energy sources in homes and businesses 
  • Using technical equipment such as voltmeters and light meters 
  • Analysing energy use data 
  • Developing energy models for new and existing buildings 
  • Advising clients and property owners on ways to improve renewable energy efficiency 
  • Providing contractors with technical support before and during installations 
  • Liaising with contractors, engineers, clients and financiers 
  • Communicating the benefits of renewable energy 
  • Employing energy conservation measures.
